InfoSecurity.SK

Infosecurity.sk seeks to identify and analyse threats to societal cohesion in the Slovak Republic and the wider Central European space. They aim at unveiling hostile actors, seek to foster critical thinking, promote media literacy, to encourage constructive debate and sensitize the wider public. The website and Facebook page are run in Slovak language.

Information security is not about electronic systems alone. Individuals, businesses, different kinds of organisations and nation states need to secure themselves, not only in cyberspace, yet primarily there, where it intersects with the world of men. Infosecurity.sk seeks to identify and analyse threats to national security undermining societal cohesion in order to make them visible to the public at large.

In Slovakia there are several worthwhile projects and individual authors, who guide readers through the intricate network of political marketing, right- and left-wing extremism, „fake news“, disinformation, „alternative news“, conspiracies, revisionist attempts, etc.

Infosecurity.sk operates in this environment together with others and seeks to support the collective effort. An educated, well-informed public, with advanced critical thinking skills guarantees resistance to information operations and malicious actors of all kinds. We strive to contribute to that.

Director and analyst at Infosecurity.sk

Victor Breiner

Victor holds a Master’s degree in German Studies from the University of Prešov in Slovakia and in International Security Studies from the University of Leicester in the UK. | In his early days he had been working as interpreter and translator until journalism took over his time entirely. | As war correspondent he published stories from Syria, Libya, Mali, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon and Ukraine for which he was awarded the Czech and Slovak Press Photo several times. | It was in war, where he developed an interest for information operations, non-kinetic combat and irregular warfare. | He began to pursue security studies in academia where he focused on theoretical frameworks for political propaganda in a globalized world. | He founded Infosecurity.sk in April 2019
