STRATPOL is glad to announce that 4th South Caucasus Security Forum sucesfully concluded. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to organizational partners from Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies, outstanding speakers, dear guests and participants. Together we managed to realize a platform where some of the most pressing security issues of today and tomorrow were thoroughly discussed.
For all those who could not be with us in Tbilisi for the Security Forum, we prepared this overview of the most memorable moments. For all the photos from the event, please visit our facebook page.
The Georgian Prime Minister opened the first conference day with his speech. Giorgi Kvirikashvili addressed several topics like further engagement with strategic partners, including the US, EU and NATO, importance of economic cooperation in the Black Sea region and hopes that dialogue and coordination will ensure stability in the South Caucasus, which serves the interests of all countries in the region.
For the second day we were most pleased to welcome Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze. In his speech, he stressed that achievements in Georgia’s EU integration agenda affirm the European and pro-western direction of the country and argued more active involvement of NATO and the EU in EaP and especially in the Black Sea region. He also touched upon the human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, as well as continued militarization which is a serious threat and significantly contributes to the instability of the region.
Both days were full of thought provoking ideas and insightful remarks. STRATPOL is preparing a Report covering all the panels in detail, which will be available online soon. Until then, please enjoy the most memorable quotes by our speakers and the rest of the photos on our Facebook. All the sessions of the Forum can be also found online on the Youtube channel of Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.
